Today I began my Tuesday/ Thursday classes for the Spring 2017 semester. I am excited and nervous at the same time because in a year I will hopefully be student teaching. It feels as if I just started going to Gardner- Webb. Today was overwhelming with all of the information that I received but I am excited to continue on my path to becoming an elementary school teacher. In order to stay organized for this course, I have written all of the due dates from the course calendar in my personal planner so I can keep up with due dates.
Today I learned that Social Studies education is very important to teach your students. It is not something you just teach for a test. It is crucial to teach social studies for your students to become proper citizens in their community. I did not realize just how important social studies education was until I read the article. I am excited to learn more about Social Studies and how to teach it to my future students.
Hannah,
ReplyDeleteI also feel slightly overwhelmed with the material in this class. Organization will be key for a successful semester. Social Studies is very important in education. This gives students insights into the past which can help with future events. I have always enjoyed social studies and history in general. Good luck with the semester.

Hannah,
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have developed a positive mindset for this course! Yes, there is some work to do. However, organization is crucial. I am thankful you have already written all of the due dates down so you can stay ahead!
Hannah,
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you, it feels like we just started this journey! This will be a tough semester but you are already ahead of the game and staying ahead by having all the due dates written down! We just have to stay focused, driven and organized this semester. We will get through it together! I agree, I loved the article and how it talked about raising up our future citizens to be educated on social studies. It really is so much more important than most think! I can't wait to learn this semester how to integrate it better in my classroom!
